About
A Waldorf Doll is a doll based on the principles of Waldorf education which seek to enliven a child's imagination. Waldorf dolls are crafted using traditional dollmaking techniques which originated in Europe. They are handmade of natural fibers, usually with cotton knit skin and stuffed with wool. The facial features of a Waldorf doll are simple, with two embroidered eyes and a hint of a mouth. Some Waldorf dolls have no features at all. This simplicity is ideal for the developing imagination of a child. The child can imagine a Waldorf doll to be happy or sad; laughing or crying; awake or asleep. Their soft wool bodies absorb the child's warmth making them nourishing to a young child's senses.
We offer several different sizes and styles of Waldorf dolls. Our dolls are soft, cuddly and made of natural fibers and fabric. Their skin is made of high quality 100% cotton interlock knit from De Witte Engel and they are firmly stuffed with clean carded wool. Hair choices include handspun merino wool, art yarn, mohair weft, alpaca locks, teeswater, wensleydale locks, tibetan lambskin, brushed mohair, or upcycled wool. The doll's eyes and mouth are hand embroidered. Every doll has rosy cheeks blushed with all natural beeswax. All limbs are hand sewn to the body which allows for more mobility.
