A Waldorf Doll is a doll based on the principles of Waldorf education which seek to enliven a child's imagination. Waldorf dolls are crafted using traditional dollmaking techniques which originated in Europe. They are handmade of natural fibers, usually with cotton knit skin and stuffed with wool. The facial features of a Waldorf doll are simple, with two embroidered eyes and a hint of a mouth. Some Waldorf dolls have no features at all. This simplicity is ideal for the developing imagination of a child. The child can imagine a Waldorf doll to be happy or sad; laughing or crying; awake or asleep. Their soft wool bodies absorb the child's warmth making them nourishing to a young child's senses.
